Owned by a former theatrical set designer and located in a
fishing village, this quirky, casual, funky, artsy hotel has
been in same family for three generations. Its owner organizes
and hosts the annual Calabesh Literary Festival which attracts
3,000 people. Unlike most resort hotels that keep the locals
at arms length, this hotel and its 2 restaurants are a gathering
place for the local writers, musicians and artists. A British
paper described Jake's as "officially the coolest place
to stay in the world."
