Romantic Places in South Africa

Cape Town, South Africa

Established as a supply depot in 1625 by the Dutch East India Company, Sir Francis Drake called it “the fairest cape in the whole circumference of the world.” It now includes coastal communities, sheltered beaches, middle class suburbs and a premier wine growing region.

Lowcountry

This richly evocative southeast coastal region set the standard for Southern historical preservation. The Lowcountry includes Charleston – a genteel and tree lined city known for its historic homes, monuments and gardens – on down to Savannah, Georgia.

Beaufort & the Sea Islands, Carolina Lowcountry

This is Prince of Tides country, located midway between Savannah and Charleston.  Beaufort is the lowcountry’s Charleston with its grand Georgian mansions, Spanish moss and magnolia trees.  Beaufort is also the gateway to the Sea Islands where the ancient African culture is preserved in the islands’ Gullah language and customs.

Thoroughbred Country

Race tracks and thoroughbred stud farms make their home here. Located just west of the Lowcountry.

Blue Ridge Mountains

Winding country roads, green valleys and forested mountains.

Romantic Places in South Dakota

South Dakota has gently rolling hills.  It includes the dramatic Black Hills National Forest where its towering granite peaks feature two carved historical monuments, Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Memorial.
