The Mamirauá Institute has established this floating
lodge in the heart of the reserve on Lake Mamirauá
channel. There, visitors can see uakari monkeys literally
from the back door, and watch pink river dolphins swim past
from the lodge's front deck. Canoe and boat trips can be taken
to other parts of the reserve to see caiman, howler monkeys,
macaws and other signature species of the flooded forest.The
lodge is a nonprofit association owned by the native families.
From Manaus, take a plane to Tefé or an all day boat
ride up the Rio Solimoes.
